Handled His Duties With Great Enthusiasm and Excitement

“I have had the distinct privilege of working with Michael J. Mann since August 2008 at a mutual client in Halton Hills, Ontario. Michael was engaged on contract to serve in the capacity as Acting Manager for the company’s struggling Repair and Overhaul division. His duties were to realign the human resources, focus the existing team on productivity issues and ultimately turn the department around from a struggling division to a fully functioning part of the company profile. This division had a long history of less than stellar output with disillusioned team members. As the Human Resources Advisor (an external role), I partnered with Michael to work on performance appraisal, employee assessment, recruitment, termination and documentation. He handled his duties with great enthusiasm and excitement. The real strength of Michael’s abilities from my perspective were in his deep and long management experience (over 30 years managing and directing business activities in the USA), and his sparkling leadership of the inherited team. I witnessed Michael leading, guiding, directing and working with all members of the team in an effort to build unity. He cares about the business, but not at the expense of the people behind the paper. He understands people do the work. This was refreshing and exciting for the team under his direction. Within a short period of time, he accomplished many things. Slowly over the first months, he made changes within the department to personnel, process and productivity. In less than a year he created a business model that was ready for inheritance by the newly recruited replacement — the official Repair and Overhaul Manager. He was able to assess, organize and execute the assignment in about 9 months. The company stakeholders were delighted with his results.
